Owner Spotlight: Trudy Hartman, M.D.

I’m Dr. Trudy Hartman, a practicing Psychiatrist in Palo Alto, CA.

I look forward to sharing my story and hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I went to U.C. Berkeley for my undergraduate degree, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude. Then I obtained my medical degree from U.C. San Francisco. I went to Stanford for my adult psychiatry residency and then returned to U.C.S.F for my child psychiatry fellowship.

I have been in private practice in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry for the past twenty years. I perform diagnostic evaluations and medication management for a diverse population. I treat a wide range of disorders, including mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders (social anxiety, panic disorder, and OCD), ADHD/ADD, and psychotic disorders. I do not do psychotherapy at this time.

I practice psychiatry to relieve suffering and to help people return to good mental health. I strive to help people regain a sense of well-being and optimism. The most enjoyable part of my job is helping people achieve remission and return to their normal functioning.

I attribute my success to a good education and good teachers/mentors. I also attribute it to hard work and passion. As a psychiatrist I am responsible for treating patients, marketing my services, and networking with other professionals in my field. On average, I work between four and seven hours a day for four days a week.

I am a member in good standing of The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists (AACAP) and of The Regional Organization of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists (ROCAP).

I utilize a range of skills to do my best for my clients. I am a good listener and can draw on a broad knowledge of mental disorders when arriving at a diagnosis. When choosing a treatment, I can choose from a wide variety of available medications to tailor treatment to each patient individually. The most satisfying moments of my work are when I am able to quickly impact a patient’s life and well-being for the better.

I enjoy being with my family when I’m not working. I also love to garden, be in nature and enjoy weight lifting.

I support Habitat for Humanity, Operation Smile, Doctors without Borders, Physicians for Responsibility, and many other organizations. I am a staunch environmentalist. I support multiculturalism and work toward peace and freedom.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.

If you or someone you know could benefit from my expertise in psychiatry services in Palo Alto, Menlo Park, San Jose and surrounding areas, I invite you to get in touch. Please visit my website at www.trudyhartmanmd.com.

Sincerely,

Trudy Hartman, M.D.
